Two Outfits and a Likeness

There is one thing cuter than Owen in his Wash Pod, and that is Owen in his shark bathrobe.  He likes to wear this robe to and fro the bath.  When I showed the picture to his southern auntie, she asked if Owen was the shark, or being eaten by the shark.  And at this point it is hard to tell.  The robe is still a little big.

And speaking of southern auntie, here is an outfit Owen wore the other day with soccer booties from his southern auntie and southern cousins:

The ACDC/ABCD t-shirt is from his Aunt Martha, and the gray pants from his Granny and Grandfather.  I'm told he looks a little like my baby pictures in this series--it must be the fat cheeks and multiple chins.  Here he is in the same outfit sitting up:

And here he is in a close-up, and Sean thinks that in his black shirt he looks not unlike a chubby Steve Jobs:

The observant among you might note that he is growing a fine pair of reddish eyebrows, and a set of so far stumpy black lashes.  What's next?  A soul patch and mutton chops?!

All Guests Must Kiss The Bulldogge

Dorothy loves a visitor, and she always has done.  The problem she is having now is that for some reason most recent visitors seem to pay way too much attention to her--let's face it--rather lackluster little brother (Does he play frisbee?  No, he does not!  Does he attack and kill his father's socks for him? Again, nyet!)--and not enough attention to her, Dorothy.

This state of affairs simply will not do, so now Dorothy has added a few skills to her guest-greeting repertoire, including Jumping Up On The Guest Right as They Lift Their Knee To Step Up On the Considerable Front Door Step, Thus Causing Them To Lose A Bit of Balance and Lean Forward, So That Then They Are At the Perfect Height For Kisses.  As you can imagine, this tends to take the poor guest by surprise.

And if a guest should happen to sit on a couch, well then!  They are simply Fair Game for hugs and kisses!  And when I say "hugs", I mean hugs, for Dorothy will plunk each front meathook down on either side of the couch-sitter's head, pin them in place, and start smooching.

Don't you want to come visit?

This past Friday my Aunt Elsie came to meet Owen, see our new house, and of course, give pats to the pets.  Dorothy immediately began her guest-greeting routine, and tried her hardest to make sure Elsie paid as much attention to her as she did to Owen.  This entailed trying out a new skill:  Getting Between The Baby and His Bottle.

Here is Elsie trying to please both great grandnephew and great grandniece:

I'd say she did a fine job!  Thanks for visiting, Elsie!  Come again next time you are in the mood for some bulldogge slobber.  :)

No Bulldogges in the Bugaboo

In general, we have a rule that says no pets in Owen's equipment.  I knew that without this rule, we would (or at least I would) be tempted to, say, push Dorothy in Owen's bugaboo stroller, blanket tucked up under her pretty chin, or stuff Plum in the Baby Bjorn and carry him around.

And this is a rule I have followed...until the other day, when I simply had to put Posy in Owen's Wash Pod.

I figured No Bulldogges In The Bugaboo, but perhaps Yes Exotics In The Wash Pod.  And when you see the pictures below, I think you will understand why I made an exception to the rule:

Hmmm, what have we here?

You'd better be laughing with me and not at me!

Do I smell puddin'?

And then since she found herself in a tub, Posy stuck out her little pink tongue and began a meticulous washing of her wee furry body:

What else does one do in a tub?

Pod Baby

One of my favorite pieces of baby equipment so far is the blue Wash Pod Owen received from my friend, Megan.  It is a tub for infants that is supposed to mimic the comforting containment of the womb.  I believe it, since when we place him in it, Owen tends to be crying over the fact that we have just taken his clothes from him and left him in the nude, yet once his legs are arranged and he is sitting in the pod his cry stops abruptly as he processes the fact that really, this pod is quite comfy, and where might his rubber ducky be?  A toy boat perhaps?

I wasn't able to get a picture of him smiling, so you'll just have to take my word for it that he very much enjoyed his bath!

And now he is a clean, sweet-smelling handsome fellow.  We even remembered to clean his neck folds!

Curtains For Plum

Dorothy has a L.L. Bean bed that is in the living room and that she will often lie upon.  Posy was fond of the bed when we first got it, but Plum ignored it--except for the time when he urinated on it, sigh.  However, last weekend Sean put curtains up in our living room, and one of the curtains hangs by Dorothy's L.L. Bean bed.  For some reason known only to little cat brains, the presence of the curtains hanging down by the bed have made it a desirable place to be.  Now every day Plum can be found on the bed by the curtains.

I do not understand why.
